Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in our industry, and how has your journey led you to where you are today?   

A: My father has always been one of my greatest inspirations. Growing up, I watched him excel in the world of finance, navigating spreadsheets and discussing numbers with precision and passion. Witnessing his dedication sparked my own interest in the field at an early age—I knew I wanted to follow a similar path. 

I began my career as an accountant with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, which gave me a strong foundation and valuable experience. However, after some time, I realized that the work didn’t fully align with my long-term aspirations. While living in Austin, Texas, I started noticing the incredible growth and potential in the multifamily real estate sector. Real estate had always intrigued me, and it felt like the perfect opportunity to channel my skills into something I was truly excited about.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about your role, and how does it contribute to the company’s overall success?   

A: What I find most rewarding about my role is the ability to transform ambitious ideas into tangible results. Whether it’s streamlining invoice processing or equipping Community Directors with dedicated debit cards, I’m always seeking innovative ways to improve efficiency and create meaningful solutions. The trust and support I receive from the company’s founders, Jacob and Arleen Garza, allow me the freedom to explore and implement these changes, which is incredibly fulfilling. 

Beyond that, I have a genuine passion for accounting. It’s very satisfying knowing that my work lays a strong foundation for the company’s financial health. By optimizing systems and maintaining accuracy, I’m not only simplifying processes but also contributing directly to the company’s success. It’s this combination of problem-solving, creativity, and my love for numbers that makes my role so rewarding. 

Q: Can you share a significant achievement or project that you’re particularly proud of from your time here?   

A: One of my proudest achievements at REEP has been implementing a debit card system, to streamline processes and make the lives of our Community Directors easier. 

Whether it’s purchasing candles to create a welcoming front office or water for the maintenance team on a hot summer day, with the implementation of a debit card system, Community Directors can quickly and easily purchase the supplies to support our residents and team members This solution not only enhances efficiency but also empowers our team to focus on what truly matters—providing exceptional service. Knowing I’ve made their day-to-day work smoother and more effective is incredibly gratifying. 

Q: How do you approach challenges and maintain motivation in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment?   

A: I approach challenges with a strategic mindset, always aiming to “measure twice and cut once.” By breaking complex problems into smaller, manageable steps, I can tackle them systematically. This method not only ensures steady progress but also helps me stay focused and organized in a fast-paced environment. 

What keeps me motivated is my ability to see the bigger picture and understand how my efforts contribute to broader goals. Knowing the impact my work has on the team’s success inspires me to keep pushing forward. Above all, my genuine love for what I do fuels my drive to continuously learn, adapt, and excel, no matter how dynamic the environment may be. 

Q: What are some key lessons or insights you’ve gained while working at our company that have helped shape your professional growth?   

A: Working at REEP has been an incredible learning experience, filled with opportunities for growth and development. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve gained is the power of collaboration. Being part of such a talented and diverse team has taught me that when we bring together different perspectives and expertise, we can achieve truly remarkable results. 

Another critical insight I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability, especially in the fast-paced world of multifamily operations. Staying flexible and maintaining focus has been key to navigating challenges and keeping momentum. These lessons have not only helped shape my professional growth but have also deepened my appreciation for teamwork and agility in achieving success. 

Q: How do you see your role evolving in the future, and what excites you about the direction our industry is heading?   

A:  I see immense potential for REEP to grow and continue to position itself as a leading force in the industry. Looking ahead, I envision my role evolving into one where I lead a team of skilled accountants, focusing on innovation and continuously discovering ways to improve and optimize processes. It’s invigorating to think about steering change, building efficiencies, and contributing to REEP’s success on a larger scale. 

What excites me even more is the direction of our industry, particularly here in Texas. With the state at the epicenter of rapid growth and opportunity, being part of that expansion feels like we’re at the forefront of something extraordinary. The combination of personal development, company growth, and the upward trajectory of our industry makes the future incredibly promising. 

Q: Outside of work, what are your passions and interests, and how do they influence your approach to your professional life?   

A: Outside of work, I am a big fan of strategy games. I’m drawn to the analytical thinking and careful planning they demand, which has sharpened my problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate challenges. The parallels between this hobby and my professional life are striking. 

In my role, I’m often tasked with assessing financial risks, forecasting trends, and making well-informed strategic decisions. Much like in a game of chess, thinking several steps ahead and considering different outcomes is essential. This mindset not only helps me overcome challenges but also allows me to approach my work with a thoughtful, forward-thinking perspective. It’s a way to merge something I truly enjoy with skills that drive success in my career. 

Q: Can you highlight a team or company initiative that you’re involved in and explain why it’s important to you?   

A: One of the most impactful initiatives I’ve had the privilege of being involved in is building the captive insurance company from the ground up. This opportunity has been both exciting and rewarding, as it’s not every day you get to contribute to something from its earliest stages. The process has been a remarkable learning experience, filled with challenges that have tested my skills and broadened my understanding in ways I never imagined. 

What makes this initiative so meaningful to me is the immense growth and development it has inspired, both personally and professionally. Each step of the way, I’ve gained invaluable insights that have strengthened my ability to innovate and problem-solve. Knowing that I’ve played a role in shaping something so foundational and impactful is a source of immense pride. I’m confident that this experience will remain a highlight of my career for years to come. 

Q: What advice would you give to new employees who are looking to make an impact and thrive within our organization?   

A: For new employees eager to make an impact and thrive within our organization, my advice is simple: approach each day with curiosity and a hunger to learn. Absorb as much knowledge as you can—be a sponge. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, even if it feels like you’re asking a million of them. It’s through these questions that you gain deeper insights and grow.
